Jakarta, April 10, 2020 - PT Modernland Realty Tbk. distributed 280 basic food packages to the community around the Jakarta Garden City township project, East Jakarta, who were affected by the Corona pandemic (COVID-19). Each basic food package consists of rice, cooking oil, sugar, sardines, wheat flour and instant noodles.

This activity is one of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs of PT Modernland Realty Tbk. The symbolic handover of basic food assistance was carried out on Friday, April 10, 2020, which was attended by, among others, representatives from the company and management of Jakarta Garden City, representatives of the Cakung Police, East Jakarta and representatives from 10 RW around the Jakarta Garden City area.

On a separate occasion, the Commander of Kodim 0505/East Jakarta, Colonel Inf Mohammad Mahfud As’at S.I.P said that he greatly appreciated this activity as a form of concern for others, especially for residents around East Jakarta Garden who were directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The basic food packages are also expected to be able to meet daily needs during the physical restriction policy and the #DiRumahAja appeal campaigned by the Central and Regional Governments as an effort to anticipate the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

This is in line with the conditions experienced by many residents around the Jakarta Garden City project, whose activities will of course be increasingly limited in meeting basic needs or earning income after the implementation of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy in Jakarta starting Friday (10/04/2020).

According to Dharma Mitra, the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on almost all industrial, business and trade sectors in Indonesia, including the economy. "Various economic activities, such as stalls, shops, or other activities involving many people have been greatly affected, so that the economy has become sluggish and the lower classes have felt the impact," he said.

To support the government in tackling the spread of COVID-19, PT Modernland Realty Tbk. has also made various efforts, including spraying disinfectant liquid in various parts of the Jakarta Garden City area, including in residential clusters and all office buildings. In addition, implementing Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) for prevention by conducting body temperature scans, providing sinks and hand washing soap, providing hand sanitizers and masks which are held periodically in Jakarta Garden City.
