Jakarta, December 6, 2024 – Demonstrating its commitment to sustainable urban development, Modernland Realty, through its subsidiary PT Mitra Sindo Sukses, the developer of the township Jakarta Garden City, continues to focus on innovation and the implementation of environmentally friendly infrastructure. As part of this commitment, the company is supporting the government's initiative to build an electric vehicle ecosystem by introducing public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU) within the Jakarta Garden City area for the convenience of residents and the surrounding community.
To realize this plan, PT Mitra Sindo Sukses has partnered with PT Exelly Elektrik Indonesia (Voltron Indonesia), a leading provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Indonesia. The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held at the Jakarta Garden City Sales Gallery on Friday, December 6th.
Under this partnership, Voltron Indonesia will provide and manage the SPKLU, integrated with advanced systems at three strategic locations within Jakarta Garden City, including shopping centers and main parking areas.
Kelvin O Lesmana, President Director of PT Mitra Sindo Sukses, stated that the provision of SPKLU services in Jakarta Garden City is a strategic step for Modernland Realty to support the government's initiative in accelerating the adoption of battery-electric vehicles and contributing to the formation of an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.
"This step aligns with the government's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels, as well as to promote the use of cleaner energy. Moreover, the provision of SPKLU also facilitates the public's transition to electric vehicles, thereby increasing public interest and confidence in using more sustainable transportation technology," said Kelvin O Lesmana.
"The development of SPKLU services in Jakarta Garden City not only supports government programs but also creates added value for residents, making it a more modern and sustainable area," Kelvin O Lesmana added.
According to Kelvin O Lesmana, the addition of three new SPKLU within the residential area will undoubtedly strengthen Jakarta Garden City's position as a township with the most complete facilities in East Jakarta. This includes the continuous addition of infrastructure facilities, making Jakarta Garden City increasingly accessible from all parts of Jakarta and the Greater Jakarta area.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman Elly, President Director of PT Exelly Elektrik Indonesia, stated that the collaboration between Jakarta Garden City and Voltron Indonesia is a strategic partnership in providing electric vehicle charging infrastructure within the area. Voltron Indonesia will provide and manage the SPKLU integrated with advanced systems installed at strategic locations throughout the area.
"Residents of Jakarta Garden City will benefit from easy access to electric vehicle charging facilities, supporting them in transitioning to more efficient and environmentally friendly electric vehicles," said Abdul Rahman Elly.
On that occasion, Eko Adji Buwono, Coordinator of the Enhancing Readiness for The Transition to Electric Vehicles in Indonesia (ENTREV) project at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, expressed his appreciation for the strategic partnership between Jakarta Garden City and Voltron Indonesia.
In his remarks, he stated that this collaboration is a concrete step in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia, in line with the government's efforts to achieve its net-zero emission target.
"This collaboration not only provides electric vehicle charging infrastructure in residential areas but also serves as an example of synergy between the public and private sectors in supporting a cleaner energy transition. With the presence of SPKLU in areas like Jakarta Garden City, we demonstrate that electric vehicles are no longer the future but a current need," said Eko Adji Buwono.
Eko Adji Buwono further added that this project is in line with ENTREV's vision to increase Indonesia's readiness for the electric vehicle transition, which involves education, infrastructure development, and ease of access for the general public.
The MoU signing event was also attended by various Authorized Distributors (ATPM) supporting the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia. ATPMs such as Neta, VinFast, MG, BYD-HAKA Auto, and SERES were present to provide full support for this initiative. This collaboration reinforces Voltron Indonesia's commitment to building an integrated electric vehicle ecosystem and supporting sustainable mobility transformation in Indonesia. With support from various parties, this strategic partnership is expected to be the first step in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles and creating a greener environment in the Jakarta Garden City area and its surroundings.
For your information, Voltron Indonesia has obtained authorization and permits from the Indonesian government to operate as a licensed electric vehicle charging station operator in Indonesia. Voltron Indonesia itself currently operates more than 150 SPKLU. In 2023, the company targets adding 500 SPKLU, up to more than 10,000 SPKLU in 2026.
